The University of Washington’s Climate Impacts Group (https://cig.uw.edu/) supports the development of climate resilience by advancing understanding and awareness of climate risks, and working closely with public and private entities to apply this information as they act to shape society’s future. In 2015, the Group published Climate Change in the Puget Sound, which provides climate data for regional decision makers.

Rapid growth in population and infrastructure leave Porto Alegre vulnerable to an increase in precipitation and rising temperatures projected for the coming century. As a member of the 100 Resilient Cities, Porto Alegre has taken great strides to identify and plan for those in high risk areas.
